Unnecessary Confusion
The following is just my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
Looking at the big picture, it seems unfortunate to me that Apostle Paul has created unnecessary confusion with his letters to the various churches. It almost seems like two different people were writing the letters. At one point it appears to me that Paul is contradicting Jesus Christ by saying things such as followers of the law are cursed and that he is dead to the law. Then he later contradicts himself by telling others to follow the law and keep the commands. So, which is it?
Again, just my personal opinion, but this constant back and forth with Paul really gets old after a while. It's like he is constantly talking out of both sides of his mouth. One side saying to keep the commands and the other side is kicking the law and commands under the bus so to speak. It really is unnecessarily confusing. And unfortunately entire Christian denominations have been built on the grace only concept due to this confusion. I have often noticed this back and forth with Paul especially in his numerous writings about Gentile circumcision. It's almost like he is trying to kick certain Jewish law and tradition regarding circumcision under the bus. Or at least trying to say that it does not apply to the Gentiles. If that is the case, it would simply mean that a Christian Gentile is not condemned to hell for being uncircumcised.
For clarity, I personally go back to what Jesus Christ said about keeping the commands. It's simple. Its straightforward. Keep the commands. Period.
Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." -Matthew 5:17-20 KJV
Heaven and earth are still here. Honestly, do you or Apostle Paul for that matter, think that for some reason or another that its okay to kill, steal, worship idols, take the name of the LORD in vain, disrespect the Sabbath day, disrespect your parents, commit adultery, covet, and bear false witness? If so, then your god is the prince of darkness.
God bless,David
